Chi-yuan Hsu
Dr. Chi-yuan Hsu is a specialist in kidney disease. He cares for adults who are hospitalized as well as those visiting the clinic. He is chief of the UCSF Division of Nephrology. Hsu's research on acute, chronic and end-stage kidney disease includes investigating strategies to improve outcomes for patients with these conditions. Questions that arise in the course of caring for patients have often motivated his research. Hsu earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a master's degree in clinical epidemiology from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in nephrology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Hsu is a member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, National Kidney Foundation, International Society of Nephrology, Chinese American Society of Nephrology, Association of Specialty Professors and Renal Physicians Association. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and American Society of Nephrology, and has been voted a best doctor by San Francisco magazine, Marin Magazine and Castle Connolly, a consumer guide to preeminent U.S. health care.
