About me

Jack Satsangi is the Lee Placito Professor of Gastroenterology, University of Oxford; a Governing Body Fellow at Green Templeton College; and an Honorary Consultant Physician in Oxford University Hospital NHS Trust. He qualified in Medicine from St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School, London in 1987; and he completed his postgraduate training in clinical and academic medicine in Oxford as an MRC Fellow and Clinician Scientist, working with Derek Jewell and John Bell. He completed his DPhil in 1996 on the genetics of inflammatory bowel disease. In 2000, Jack succeeded the late Anne Ferguson as Professor of Gastroenterology in Edinburgh, with the intention of building on her legacy to develop a centre of excellence in inflammatory bowel disease. He returned to Oxford to take up his present post in 2018. He holds an honorary chair in the University of Edinburgh.
