About me

A retired heart transplant surgeon, John Macoviak MD MBA holds both a cum laude bachelor of science and a magna cum laude doctor of medicine from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. John Macoviak MD MBA also has a master of business administration with an emphasis in healthcare from the University of California, Irvine. A specialist in cardiothoracic surgery, he has worked widely in both California and Washington, D.C. He also served as a robotic-assisted cardiac surgeon with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. While active as a surgeon, John Macoviak held a number of teaching positions in the field of cardiac health, including tenures as an associate professor of cardiothoracic surgery at Harvard Medical School and assistant professor of cardiothoracic surgery at his alma mater Georgetown. He has also written extensively, authoring approximately 50 articles for various peer-reviewed publications. Today, John Macoviak continues his 40-year career as a healthcare author he regularly contributes to a proprietary diabetes and hypertension blog.
