Mehul Dattani
Professor Dattani qualified in Medicine at the Middlesex Hospital, London. He trained in paediatric endocrinology and was awarded an MD at UCL for his work on the optimization of a novel bioassay for the estimation of serum growth hormone (GH). He then obtained post-doctoral experience at the Medical Research Council (MRC) National Institute for Medical Research where he identified the first gene to be associated with septo-optic dysplasia. Subsequently, he was appointed as a Lecturer in Paediatric Endocrinology at the Institute of Child Health, promoted to Reader in 2004, and then to Professor in 2006. He is Chair of the British Society for Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (BSPED), and Chair-Elect of the Programme Organizing Committee of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (ESPE), with a position on the Council of ESPE.
