Paul I Dargan
Paul Dargan is professor of clinical toxicology at King's College London and a consultant physician and clinical toxicologist at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. He is the Caldicott Guardian at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. Paul has an active research and teaching programme, with a focus on recreational drug toxicity, new psychoactive substances, self-poisoning and heavy metal toxicity. He leads on many projects with collaborators in the UK, Europe, North America, Africa and Asia. He has had over £1.8m of research funding in the last five years and frequently presents both new research and keynote lectures at international conferences. He has published over 300 peer-reviewed papers and numerous book chapters.Paul sits on the Scientific Committee of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drugs Addiction (EMCDDA) and is the Chair of the Scientific Committee of the European Association of Poisons Control Centres and Clinical Toxicologists (EAPCCT). Paul is an expert adviser to a number of other bodies including the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the United Nations Office On Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
